Old skylights are one of the most common leak sources we find. Most were installed with site-built flashing that fails long before the glass does. Replacing them during a roof project costs far less than doing it later.
We install factory-flashed skylights with ice and water shield collars, and solar-powered venting models that close automatically when rain starts.
Ventilation matters just as much at altitude. A balanced system with soffit intake and ridge exhaust keeps attics cooler in July and drier in January, which helps prevent ice dams and extends shingle life.
